Steve Whelan is an experienced tennis coach, coach educator, and international speaker with over 24 years of hands-on coaching and coach development experience. A specialist in Ecological Dynamics and the Constraints-Led Approach (CLA), Steve has worked across clubs, academies, national performance centres, and international federations.

He is the founder of the My Tennis Coaching Academy, an online learning platform supporting coaches worldwide with courses, mentoring, and resources focused on evidence-based, game-centred coaching. His work bridges the gap between theory and practice, helping coaches design representative learning environments and build sustainable careers.

Steve is also a published author and researcher, contributing the chapter “Coaching Tennis” (2025) to a sport-specific textbook . He is currently completing a Master of Research (MRes) in Sport & Exercise at the University of Winchester, where his work focuses on applying ecological dynamics to coach education.

As a speaker, Steve has presented at major international and national conferences including Tennis Australia, Tennis South Africa, Coach the Coaches (Basel), PTR UK, and the BTCA National Coaching Conference.
